JOB DESCRIPTION – DME / ITI (MACHINE MAINTENANCE)

Job Title: Machine Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Engineer
Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) / ITI – Mechanical, Fitter, or relevant trade
Department: Mechanical Maintenance
Experience: 0–5 years (based on company requirements)

1**. Job Purpose**

To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of production machinery by carrying out preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities to minimize machine downtime and improve equipment reliability.

2. Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and breakdown maintenance of production machinery and equipment.
• Identify mechanical faults and troubleshoot machine problems to ensure quick restoration of operations.
• Carry out maintenance and repair of motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, rollers, valves, and other mechanical components.
• Attend machine breakdowns promptly and minimize production downtime.
• Follow the preventive maintenance schedule and maintain maintenance records.
• Monitor machine conditions, lubrication levels, abnormal noise, vibration, and temperature.
• Assist in installation, alignment, commissioning, and modification of machinery and equipment.
• Coordinate with production and other departments to plan maintenance activities without affecting production schedules.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of tools, spare parts, and maintenance materials.
• Report major breakdowns, recurring mechanical problems, and spare parts requirements to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures during maintenance work, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), where applicable.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the maintenance workshop and machine areas.
• Support root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid repeated breakdowns.
• Maintain records of breakdowns, maintenance activities, spare parts consumption, and machine service history.
• Follow company policies, safety standards, and instructions given by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.

3. Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of fitting, assembly, dismantling, and repair work.
• Ability to identify mechanical faults and perform troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors, lubrication, and power transmission systems.
• Ability to use mechanical tools and measuring instruments.
• Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
• Ability to work in shifts and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
• Good teamwork, discipline, and communication skills.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
