What they need
About Cut My
Cut My is a growing manufacturing business, providing precision-cut products to customers who value quality, accuracy and reliable service. Our site and facilities play an important part in supporting our production teams and ensuring the business operates safely and efficiently.
We are looking for a practical, reliable and hands-on Maintenance Person to join our team. This is an important role, helping to keep our building, facilities and working environment safe, well maintained and fit for purpose.
The Role
Working across our site, you will be responsible for a range of general maintenance, repairs and upkeep. From painting and decorating to resolving machinery maintenance issues, carrying out minor repairs and identifying potential problems before they escalate, you will help ensure our facilities remain in good working order.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a practical approach to problem-solving and can work independently to get things done. You will need to be proactive, organised and comfortable managing a variety of tasks, prioritising work according to business needs and knowing when specialist support is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general painting, decorating and refurbishment work to maintain a clean, presentable and professional working environment.
- Undertake repairs and maintenance to internal and external building structures, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, fixtures and fittings.
- Identify and address general plumbing issues, such as minor leaks and blockages, within the limits of your competence.
- Carry out basic maintenance tasks, including replacing light bulbs and other suitable components, ensuring all work is safe and within your training and authorisation.
- Conduct routine inspections of the building and facilities to identify maintenance requirements, potential hazards and opportunities for improvement.
- Respond to maintenance requests from colleagues and managers, ensuring work is prioritised and completed promptly.
- Diagnose faults, investigate problems and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Arrange or support specialist contractors where work requires additional expertise, certification or authorisation.
- Help maintain a safe, tidy and well-organised site, following company procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain appropriate records of maintenance work, outstanding issues, materials used and any follow-up actions required.
- Take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, helping to minimise disruption and keep the site operating effectively.
About You
You will be a practical, resourceful individual who enjoys fixing things, solving problems and taking pride in a job well done. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and supporting colleagues across different areas of the business.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a general maintenance, facilities or building maintenance role.
- Good practical skills in general repairs, painting, decorating and building upkeep.
- Basic plumbing knowledge and experience carrying out minor repairs.
- An understanding of electrical safety and the ability to undertake permitted basic maintenance tasks within your competence.
- A methodical approach to identifying problems and finding effective solutions.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage your time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Good communication skills and a helpful, approachable attitude.
- A proactive mindset, with the confidence to identify issues and take ownership of resolving them.
- A commitment to working safely and following appropriate procedures.
Qualifications and Training
Relevant practical qualifications, vocational training or maintenance-related certifications would be advantageous, although demonstrable hands-on experience and a strong practical aptitude are equally important.
Any electrical, plumbing or other specialist work must be undertaken only where you have the appropriate competence, training and authorisation.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
The role involves working across a manufacturing site and carrying out a variety of practical maintenance tasks. You will need to be comfortable with regular standing, walking, bending and kneeling, and handling tools, materials and equipment safely.
Some tasks may involve lifting and carrying items, working outdoors or using access equipment where appropriately trained and authorised. All work must be carried out in accordance with the relevant risk assessments and safe working procedures.
Why Join Cut My?
This is an opportunity to join a growing business where your contribution will make a visible difference every day. By keeping our facilities safe, functional and well maintained, you will play an important part in supporting our people, our production operation and the continued development of the business.
If you are practical, dependable and enjoy taking ownership of a varied workload, we would like to hear from you.
