Maintenance Technician

Legacy Manufacturing - Marion, IA

The Maintenance Technician supports both production equipment and building maintenance in a light manufacturing environment. This is a multi-craft, hands-on role that troubleshoots equipment, performs preventive maintenance, and helps keep the facility running safely and reliably, calling for practical mechanical ability and electrical troubleshooting experience and the ability to work independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: includes the following.

• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment (conveyors, packaging equipment, sensors, motors)
• Replace bearings, belts, chains, rollers, gearboxes, and drive components
• Diagnose electrical controls (photoeyes, proximity switches, relays, contactors)
• Repair pneumatic systems (air lines, cylinders, valves)
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and lubrication
• Maintain building systems (lighting, docks, doors, plumbing fixtures)
• Assist with compressors, HVAC filter changes, and utilities
• Respond to equipment downtime and restore operation safely
• Document work performed and communicate equipment issues

Required Qualifications

• Technical school degree
• 2-3 years of proven experience in facilities maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Basic electrical troubleshooting ability (multimeter, 120–480V diagnostics)
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Comfortable working around operating machinery
• Ability to read technical schematics and use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong electrical experience, including working with schematics and PLC systems
• Mechanical knowledge with skills in welding and troubleshooting mechanical systems
• Familiarity with CMMS software for work order management
• Pneumatics repair experience
• Welding or fabrication basics
• Forklift or lift equipment experience

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must have adequate vision, with or without glasses or lenses, to read
• Must have high manual dexterity
• Must be able to reach above shoulder level to work
• Must be able to bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist, and turn
