Maintenance Technician I

Join our team as a Maintenance Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of public facilities and infrastructure. You will perform essential maintenance tasks and support public works projects that keep our city running smoothly. Responsibilities include:

1. Assists in the construction and maintenance of streets, ditches, culverts, right of ways, parks, and City owned facilities.

2. Loads and unloads trucks.

3. Performs maintenance, cleaning and repair of buildings and facilities.

4. Cuts grass, trims trees, trims weeds, and cleans grounds.

5. Operates dump truck and hauls sand and gravel.

6. Performs general labor.

7. Operates small implements such as tractors, mowers, and front-end loaders.

8. Operates heavy equipment such as excavators, graders, or heavy trenching machines.

9. Sidewalk and curb and gutter construction, maintenance, and repair.

10. Asphalt and unpaved street maintenance and repair.

11. Concrete construction of forms, walls to hold back dirt, and other foundations.

12. Street cleaning.

13. Drainage, easements, rights-of-way, parks, and other city property maintenance.

14. Storm sewer cleaning and maintenance.

15. Culvert installation, cleaning, and maintenance.

16. Will perform any other jobs assigned.

Acceptable experience and training:

• High school graduate/possession of GED or equivalent required.
• At least one (1) year of street maintenance experience or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certificates and licenses required:

• Valid Texas driver’s license required.
• Driving record acceptable to the City.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

2. Ability to perform strenuous work in the outdoors under adverse weather conditions.

3. Ability to lift seventy-five (75) pounds.

4. Ability to maintain a good driving record.
