Operations & Maintenance Technician II – Gas Turbine Power Plant (LMS100)

Location: San Diego, CA

We are seeking a senior-level Operations & Maintenance Technician to join a 300+ MW simple-cycle gas turbine power plant in the San Diego area. This facility generates electricity for the local utility and is looking for an experienced power plant professional with strong gas turbine operations , plant maintenance , and control room experience .

LMS100 experience is highly desirable.

Former U.S. Navy Gas Turbine Technicians (GSM, GSE, MM, BT) with utility-scale or industrial power generation experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Operate, start, synchronize, monitor, and safely shut down gas turbine generating equipment.
• Monitor plant performance using DCS/HMI systems, gauges, alarms, meters, and operating logs.
• Perform control room and outside operator duties during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and overhaul mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize plant reliability.
• Support outage planning and major maintenance activities.
• Perform water chemistry testing on boiler, feedwater, condensate, cooling water, and demineralized water systems.
• Operate reverse osmosis and demineralization systems.
• Maintain accurate operating logs and maintenance documentation.
• Communicate with the Balancing Authority using required operating protocols.
• Ensure compliance with NERC, ISO, environmental, and plant safety procedures.
• Train and mentor junior operators while assisting with operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Operate plant support equipment including forklifts, man lifts, and other mobile equipment.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Technical School, Military Training, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of gas turbine or utility-scale power plant operations and maintenance experience.
• Experience operating simple-cycle or combined-cycle power plants.
• Strong experience with:
• Gas Turbines
• Plant Startup & Shutdown
• Control Room Operations
• Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
• Mechanical & Electrical Troubleshooting
• Experience using plant monitoring systems and computerized operating systems.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience performing lockout/tagout procedures.
• Strong safety mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• LMS100 experience
• Combined-cycle power plant experience
• U.S. Navy Gas Turbine Technician (GSM/GSE), Boiler Technician (BT), Machinist Mate (MM), or similar military background
• Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation experience
• Maximo or TK Pro CMMS experience
• NERC/ISO operating experience
• Water chemistry experience
• Associate's degree or technical certification
