What they need

Maintenance Technician

High Fidelity Property Management is growing, and we're looking for a reliable, experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team.

You'll be responsible for completing maintenance and repair work across our residential properties throughout Chicago. This is a hands-on position for someone who knows their way around an apartment, can troubleshoot problems, and takes pride in doing quality work.

Pay: $25–$30/hour based on experience and skill level

What You'll Do

You'll receive work orders from our Property Managers and handle day-to-day maintenance and repairs at our properties. Typical work includes:

  • Basic plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Drywall repair, patching, and painting
  • Doors, locks, windows, cabinets, and hardware
  • Appliances and appliance installation
  • Flooring, tile, and other basic interior repairs
  • Basic heating and A/C troubleshooting
  • Ceiling leaks and other common building repairs
  • Changing locks, rekeying, and making keys
  • Light fixtures, ceiling fans, and other electrical fixtures
  • Minor exterior repairs, including gates, fences, railings, gutters, etc.
  • Apartment make-ready and turnover repairs
  • Moving small appliances, vanities, toilets, and other items when needed
  • Cleaning up or removing abandoned items when necessary

You do not need to be an expert in every trade. We're looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, knows how to troubleshoot, can handle a wide variety of common apartment repairs, and knows when something needs to be turned over to a licensed professional.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in apartment maintenance, property maintenance, handyman work, or a similar field
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple work orders
  • Good communication with Property Managers and residents
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Comfortable using a smartphone to document work with photos and notes
  • Able to safely lift and move appliances, toilets, vanities, and other equipment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable personal vehicle with current insurance
  • Comfortable traveling throughout Chicago

We care more about what you can actually do than how many certifications you have. If you're a good all-around maintenance person who can walk into an apartment, figure out what's wrong, and fix it, we'd like to hear from you.

What We Provide

  • $25–$30/hour, based on knowledge and experience
  • Monthly gas stipend
  • Company-issued iPhone
  • Company Home Depot credit card
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield medical insurance — company pays 50%
  • Dental insurance
  • 2 weeks paid vacation after 90 days
  • Full-time, approximately 40 hours/week
