Maintenance Technician: Part-time

Schedule: Part-Time | Average of 20 hours per week | 40 hours per pay period | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
This position follows a rotating two-week schedule:

Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2: Monday, Tuesday
Department: Environmental Services | Cedars of Dexter | Dexter, MI

What You'll Do:
Be a key part of keeping our community safe, secure, and running smoothly. As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll help maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in top condition. From routine upkeep to addressing repair needs, your work supports a clean, functional, and secure environment for everyone on site. You’ll play an essential role in upholding regulatory standards and facility policies while making a visible, everyday impact through hands-on work and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repairs

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work, as directed and in accordance with established procedures.
• Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform occasional maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, removing snow, and salting, as necessary/directed.

Safety and Compliance

• Perform routine safety checks of door lock systems, water temperatures, etc., as directed and in accordance with established procedures.
• Assure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up before performing floor cleaning duties and removed/stored in a timely fashion after the floor is dry.

Cleaning and Sanitation

• Clean/polish furnishings, floors, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident cottages/apartments, clubhouse/common areas, offices, etc.
• Clean and sanitize vacant cottages/apartments as assigned.

Event and Setup Support

• Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for indoor or outdoor functions as directed.

Housekeeping and Backup Support

• Provide occasional backup support for housekeeping duties.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Experience in a Maintenance Tech position.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighting up to 35 pounds without assistance.
