About the role

We are seeking expressions of interest for a permanent, full-time Maintenance Worker to join our North West Hydro team in East Devonport. In this hands-on role, you will support the ongoing maintenance of Hydro Tasmania’s road network.

Working across Hydro Tasmania’s road network also means spending time in some of Tasmania’s most beautiful and remote locations, including places many people may never have the opportunity to see, let alone be paid to visit.

·         Road maintenance, including pavement repairs, tree and vegetation trimming, and maintenance of traffic facilities such as guideposts, signage and safety barriers

·         Minor bridge maintenance

·         Scheduled inspections of road, bridge and recreational-area assets

·         Weed management and control

·         Traffic management and control

·         General labouring and other duties as required

·         Responding to issues and emergencies across the road and bridge network

About you

You will bring a positive, can-do attitude, a strong commitment to safety and a willingness to learn. You enjoy working outdoors, collaborate well with others and take pride in delivering quality work. You will also be comfortable working away from home when required, supporting work across different locations as operational needs arise. Experience in civil maintenance or a related field will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

Mandatory criteria

·         General Construction Induction (White Card)

·         Confidence and competence using mobile devices and digital platforms

·         Strong attention to detail and effective organisational and time management skills

·         A sound understanding of safety principles and practices

·         Proven ability to manage competing tasks and priorities accurately and on time

·         Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills

·         Sound written and verbal communication skills

·         A current Australian C class driver licence (MR desirable)

·         Australian residency or a valid Australian visa with working rights

Desirable criteria

·         A current First Aid and/or CPR certificate

·         Level 1 and 2 Bridge Inspection Statements of Attainment

·         Previous experience in civil asset construction and/or maintenance

·         Additional relevant tickets, such as chainsaw or ChemCert certification

·         Experience operating machinery such as skid-steer loaders, excavators and rollers

·         Experience repairing sealed and unsealed pavements
