Job Overview

Hampton Inn Akron/Fairlawn is seeking a dependable, motivated, and customer-focused Part-Time Maintenance person to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining the hotel's appearance, functionality, and safety while ensuring an exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of performing a variety of preventative maintenance, repairs, and property upkeep tasks in accordance with Hilton brand standards.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance and routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
• Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, batteries, air filters, and other building components as needed.
• Repair doors, locks, furniture, fixtures, and paint surfaces.
• Maintain the hotel pool and spa area
• Ensure all life safety equipment, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, and exit signs are functioning properly.
• Assist with guest requests involving maintenance issues while providing friendly and professional customer service.
• Keep maintenance shop organized and maintain adequate inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
• Perform exterior maintenance including parking lot inspections, trash removal, pressure washing, landscaping, and seasonal flower care.
• Assist with snow removal, salting walkways, and ice prevention during winter weather.
• Support room renovations, furniture assembly, and special property improvement projects.
• Coordinate with housekeeping and front desk departments to prioritize out-of-order rooms and guest concerns.
• Follow all OSHA, hotel safety, and company policies and procedures.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations when scheduled.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Preventive maintenance planning.
• Guest room maintenance and repair.
• Basic HVAC troubleshooting.
• Pool maintenance experience (preferred but not required).
• Painting and drywall finishing.
• Landscaping and exterior grounds maintenance.
• Snow removal equipment operation.
• Knowledge of Hilton brand standards is a plus.
