What they need

At Hex-Rays, creators of IDA Pro, we empower security researchers, reverse engineers, and vulnerability analysts with the world's most trusted disassembler and decompiler. From malware analysts to software vendors, our users rely on IDA to tackle some of the most complex binaries ever written.

Please note this is not an active vacancy. We're not currently hiring for this role. This posting stays open so we can connect with strong reverse engineers for future opportunities. You're welcome to introduce yourself, but there's no active hiring process at this time — we'll be in touch if that changes.

Location: Liège, Belgium (on-site with a few days of homeworking)

Your Role

  • Perform in-depth malware reverse engineering using IDA Pro.
  • Develop plugins, scripts, or additional functionality to extend IDA’s capabilities and improve workflows.
  • Identify real-world pain points in malware analysis and propose solutions to overcome them.
  • Contribute technical insights and feedback to our product team to help guide IDA’s evolution.
  • Share knowledge by writing technical content, presenting ideas internally, and engaging with the reverse engineering community.
  • Collaborate with peers in open, constructive discussions, debating solutions, challenging assumptions, and driving innovation.

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in malware analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Hands-on expertise with IDA Pro, ideally having built or customized plugins/scripts.
  • Solid programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Strong understanding of reverse engineering workflows and their pain points.
  • Analytical mindset: able to identify problems, think creatively, and design practical solutions.
  • Proactive, curious, and comfortable contributing ideas in technical discussions.
  • Familiarity with other decompilers or reverse engineering frameworks.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience analyzing advanced malware (obfuscation, packing, anti-debugging techniques).
  • Contributions to the reverse engineering or security community (blog posts, plugins, CTF writeups, open-source projects).
  • Experience presenting at security conferences or workshops.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation, including performance-based incentives.
  • A chance to work at the heart of the reverse engineering world with the team behind IDA Pro.
  • The opportunity to shape IDA based on real-world malware analysis experience.
  • Work with highly respected experts in reverse engineering and cybersecurity.
  • A stimulating, collaborative environment where new ideas are valued.
