What they need
The Department of Public Works (DPW) has an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, analytically minded, and technology-savvy Management Analyst to join our team.
About the Role
As a member of the Management Division, you will act as a trusted internal consultant, partnering with divisions across the department to optimize operations, integrate technology systems, strengthen data-driven decision-making and support the Department’s operating and capital budget preparation and analysis efforts. This role blends traditional management-analysis duties with the challenge of applying emerging AI tools to real municipal challenges — helping the department work smarter, respond faster, and plan more strategically.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an internal consultant to divisions across the department, advising on process improvements and operational best practices
- Develop, prepare, and monitor budgets, goals, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Lead and support special projects from planning through implementation
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement system and technology improvements
- Prepare reports, analyze data, and maintain accurate documentation and records
- Using AI platforms to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and surface actionable insights
- Building dashboards and reports (Power BI preferred) to make data accessible and useful across the department
- Regular review and analysis of departmental financial statements and operational performance measurement data.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a self-motivated candidate who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings a blend of analytical, financial, and technological experience, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, finance, accounting, or a closely related field, combined with at least 18 months of relevant professional experience — including work in budget/accounting, municipal government, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills
Experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI. Familiarity with AI/data-analysis platforms and a curiosity for applying them to operational problems. Prior experience in, or demonstrated interest in, municipal or public-sector government. Proficiency in drafting annual budget estimates and monitoring spending. Familiarity with basic accounting principles. MUNIS, GIS, MS Access, Crystal Reports, SSRS.
