What they need
About Onit Digital
Onit Digital builds the retail marketing platforms behind national and global automotive OEMs. Our software distributes and manages offers and incentives across markets, and we are now building a suite of AI agents (offer recommendation, creative composition, campaign assembly, market and inventory intelligence) into a new platform. We are a small, remote-first team. The distance between an idea and a client seeing it is days, not quarters.
The role
We are looking for someone who solves client problems because that is how great client relationships, and new business, get built.
A client brings you a messy business problem. You figure out what is really going on, come back with an idea they did not expect, build a working version of it with AI, and put it in front of them. When it works, you are the one who sees the next problem worth solving, and you turn it into the next project. Your clients trust you because you keep making their business better, and that trust is how our accounts grow.
The people who do this best have owned enterprise client relationships end to end, know the economics of the work they are selling and delivering, and are curious enough to learn a new industry and a new platform fast. If you have ever walked into a routine client meeting with an idea that became a new statement of work, you will recognize this job.
What you will own
- Client relationships that grow. You are who the client calls. You read when a client is anxious versus just asking, you get ahead of them, and you build trust that survives a missed estimate. You will sit with OEM marketing leads and their agencies of record, and over time those relationships should produce new work.
- Turning problems into solutions, and solutions into business. A client describes a symptom. You find the cause, weigh the options, and recommend one with the tradeoffs stated. Then you shape it into a proposal: what it is, what it costs, why it is worth it.
- Ideas, then execution. You will see things across clients and the platform that no one else sees. We expect you to bring us ideas nobody asked for, and to build the rough version yourself before you pitch it. Some will become product, some will win new business, some will get thrown away on Friday.
- Building with AI yourself. You take an idea to a working AI-assisted prototype in days, without waiting for an engineering team. A rough working thing changes a client conversation in a way a deck never does.
- Seeing it through. Once a client says yes, you make sure what was promised is what gets delivered: clear requirements for our engineers, honest status, and scope boundaries you name out loud. You care about delivery because a client who got what they were promised buys again.
- Commercial judgment. Every project has a number attached. You know what is a goodwill inclusion, what is a change order, and what is a phase two worth selling.
What we are looking for
- 5 to 10 years in client-facing roles where you owned the relationship and grew it: account management, client services, solutions consulting, solutions engineering, agency account leadership, or client success with expansion targets, ideally in martech, adtech or enterprise SaaS
- A track record of ideas you originated that turned into new or expanded business with an existing client. Tell us about one
- You use AI tools daily to build things, not just to summarize email. Tell us what you built
- You can translate a business problem into something a technical team can deliver, and explain the result to a client in plain language
- Clear, persuasive writing: proposals, recommendations and updates that move a decision forward
- Comfort with real-world complexity. Much of the work touches systems that already exist and cannot be paused
- Curious and hungry. You want more surface area than your title implies
What this role is not
This is not a project or program management role. If your career has been about running timelines, ceremonies and ticket boards for a team that builds, this is probably not the right fit, and we would rather tell you now. We need someone who owns the client, generates the ideas, and builds.
Nice to have
- Automotive, OEM, dealer-network or fleet exposure (offers, incentives, lease and APR mechanics, DMA geography)
- Agency-side experience, or managing agency partners
- Creative automation, digital asset management or programmatic advertising
- Experience writing proposals or statements of work that clients signed
- Experience hiring, training or managing a small team
Where this goes
This is a Manager seat with a deliberate path to Senior Manager within 18 to 24 months, based on evidence: client relationships you own outright, new business you originated, and ideas of yours that shipped.
Being straight with you
This is a wide remit: client relationships, problem solving, new ideas, building and follow-through, all live at once. It works if you are self-directed and like being judged on outcomes. It does not work if you need a narrow lane or a lot of scaffolding. In exchange you get range a company three times our size would make you wait a decade for.
Location: Remote, with a strong preference for candidates in the New York Metro Area. Occasional client travel.
Compensation: $80,000 to $110,000 per year, on a 1099 independent contractor basis.
Other offers great for you!
