Manager

Water & Shark is looking for a Chartered Accountant to lead and advise on international business and wealth structures for founders, family businesses, family offices, funds and global enterprises, as part of its Cross-Border Structuring Advisory practice in Mumbai.

Key Responsibilities

Advisory and Structuring

• Lead and advise on cross-border structuring, including holding structures, outbound investment and inbound set-ups
• Lead and advise on the taxation of wealth structures, including trusts, foundations, family investment companies and succession arrangements across jurisdictions
• Conduct jurisdiction-specific legal, tax and regulatory analysis for proposed structures
• Apply tax treaties, residency, place of effective management, permanent establishment and substance requirements to structures
• Support transfer pricing on intercompany arrangements
• Prepare structure notes, step plans and client presentations

International Tax Compliance

• Handle Singapore, Hong Kong, UK and USA tax compliance, including return preparation and filing support
• Assist in IndiaUS fund advisory, including US tax reporting for funds and their investors
• Assist in US international information filings, including PFIC , CFC and Schedules K-1 and K-3

Team Leadership and Delivery

• Manage, guide and review the work of a small team, ensuring quality and timely delivery
• Oversee assignments end to end, from scoping to final delivery, with rigorous follow-through
• Coordinate with overseas advisers, banks, trustees, fund administrators and corporate service providers

Practice Growth and Visibility

• Actively work towards growing the practice by identifying client needs and new advisory opportunities
• Represent the team at industry forums, professional bodies and other platforms
• Strengthen the firm's advisory visibility by publishing articles, insights and thought-leadership content

Desired Candidate Profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant with 3-4 years of post-qualification experience
• Hands-on exposure to international tax, cross-border structuring and wealth structuring
• Hands-on tax compliance experience in one or more of Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK and the USA
• Exposure to US international tax filings (PFIC, CFC, K-1, K-3) or fund taxation is a strong advantage
• Understanding of the tax treatment of trusts, foundations and family investment structures
• Ability to research and analyse jurisdiction-specific laws and regulations
• Sound understanding of the Income Tax Act and double tax avoidance agreements
• Experience supervising or reviewing the work of Advisory team members
• Confidence in presenting to clients and speaking at professional forums
• Strong writing skills for articles and thought-leadership content
• Precision in analysis, drafting and delivery
• Ownership, leadership and accountability in execution
• Disciplined time management and continuous learning
