Manager - Cyber Security

A major professional services firm is seeking a freelance Security Engineering Manager with strong technical expertise in application security, threat modelling, and emerging AI security technologies. In this role, you will work closely with Engineering teams and the central security team to identify and assess technical risks, drive security remediation, and strengthen the security of AI-powered systems and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess technical risks, threats, vulnerabilities, and potential exploits in collaboration with the central team responsible for security tools and capabilities.
• Partner with Engineering teams to identify, prioritise, and drive remediation of security issues.
• Conduct deep technical investigations into application, infrastructure, and AI security risks.
• Support the implementation of security controls and best practices throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Develop threat models for local model deployments and AI-enabled systems.
• Evaluate emerging AI security risks, including agentic workflows and autonomous AI systems.
• Apply experience with frontier AI models and AI-assisted security tools, such as Claude Code security scanning, to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate across Security and Engineering teams to improve security processes and reduce technical risk.

Skills and Experience

• Strong technical background in security engineering, application security, or a related field.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment, threat analysis, and security remediation.
• Ability to work closely with engineers to translate security findings into practical technical solutions.
• Understanding of AI security, frontier models, and the risks associated with local model deployments.
• Familiarity with threat modelling for agentic systems and AI-driven workflows.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to operate across technical teams.

Pay: $5,000.00 - $15,000.00 per month
