About Us McGrathNicol is an independent professional services firm specialising in Cyber, Deals, Forensic, Performance, Restructuring, and Risk & Compliance. For more than 20 years, we have supported organisations to navigate critical moments, from growth and transformation through to financial stress and uncertainty, across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Guided by our values – Understanding, Commitment and Impact – we are client-focused, collaborative and committed to creating an environment where our people can do their best work and continue to grow their careers.

The Opportunity As part of our Restructuring team, you will assist our clients to restore stability and maximise value through financial and operational challenges on restructuring, turnaround and insolvency engagements. Partnering with boards, management teams and financiers facing situations of financial distress, we quickly identify root causes, formulate turnaround strategies and implement value-maximising restructures. We advise companies across all industry sectors and business sizes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage significant components of restructuring and advisory engagements, including day‑to‑day project delivery, resourcing and financial management of assignments.
  • Apply market, industry and technical knowledge to proactively identify emerging issues, risks and opportunities relevant to clients’ businesses, and contribute to practical, commercial solutions.
  • Take responsibility for quality control across engagements, ensuring analyses, deliverables and outputs meet McGrathNicol standards and partner expectations.
  • Perform and oversee complex financial and commercial analysis to support key recommendations, including cash flow modelling, scenario analysis, valuations and decision support.
  • Design, build and review financial models, management reporting and information protocols to support restructuring, turnaround and advisory outcomes.
  • Deliver high‑quality, responsive client service and play an active role in building and strengthening long‑term client relationships.
  • Lead, coach and develop junior team members by delegating challenging work, providing structured feedback and supporting their technical and professional growth.

About You

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing junior team members while managing workflow and deliverables.
  • Prior relevant experience within a professional services environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders and senior colleagues.
  • Well‑developed commercial acumen, with the ability to understand client issues, assess risk and contribute to practical, value‑adding solutions.
  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and judgement when dealing with sensitive or confidential matters.
  • University degree in Business, Commerce or a related discipline; full Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ) membership highly regarded.
