Manager - Engineering (Malaysia & Indonesia)

Cleantech Solar is a solar developer that finances, constructs, owns and operates solar projects. We are headquartered in Singapore and operate across Pan Asia, focusing on long-term investments within the commercial and industrial customer segments.

We are seeking for an experienced Engineering Manager (handling Malaysia and Indonesia projects) to join our rapidly expanding team of technical professionals. The Engineering Manager reports to Director – Head of Operations and will lead and manage the engineering team based out of Malaysia.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and ensure structural and electrical engineering design from concept through detailed design, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Manage and coordinate engineering activities with internal and external stakeholders to assess project viability, optimize designs, and resolve technical issues for solar photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects in Malaysia and Indonesia.
• Develop and improve engineering processes, standards, and design tools to deliver high-quality, cost-effective renewable energy projects.
• Review and approve engineering documents and drawings submitted by contractors, consultants, and vendors before project execution.
• Prepare and review Bill of Quantities, technical specifications, scopes of work, and engineering requirements for RFPs, tendering, and procurement.
• Plan, conduct site visits and technical due diligence (TDD) assessments from project opportunity to contract signed phase, and resolve early PV system challenges.
• Lead design review meetings to ensure quality, risk control, and design improvements.
• Provide engineering support to project teams
• Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, mitigate technical risks, and ensure timely delivery.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of low, medium & high voltage, utility interconnection design.
• Lead engineering design
• Lead and review utility-scale solar farm designs.
• Ensure compliance with utility requirements, grid codes, regulations, and environmental standards in Malaysia and Indonesia.
• Support evaluation of emerging renewable energy technologies and value engineering initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in technical discipline

• 7-8 years of solar photovoltaic project engineering or design experience

• Working knowledge of construction and electrical principles

  • Utility-Scale Ground-Mounted Solar Farm Design
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Hybrid Solar + BESS Solutions
  • Grid Interconnection & Utility Compliance
  • Medium Voltage (11kV/33kV) Systems
  • Energy Yield Assessment & Design Optimization
  • Malaysia (TNB, SESB, NUR, SEDA) and Indonesia (PLN) project experience
  • EPC Project Lifecycle Management

• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite

• Experience with MS Project, Sketchup and PVsyst is a plus

• Highly organized and proactive

• Eager to learn and develop a deeper understanding of PV design and construction

• Experience with BESS projects

• Able to work independently and adapt to rapidly changing priorities

• Able to work in tandem with a global team of internal and external stakeholders

• Must be able to travel as required
