Position Summary:
Mobius Renewables is seeking an experienced, hands-on Fleet Manager to lead the daily operations of our mid-sized CNG/RNG virtual pipeline trucking fleet. This role is responsible for safe, compliant, and efficient fleet performance across drivers, tractors, trailers, and customer deliveries. The Fleet Manager will assist with dispatch execution, driver accountability, BOL reconciliation, customer invoicing reconciliation, driver payroll, contract management, maintenance coordination, regulatory compliance, and asset utilization to ensure reliable service and strong operational performance.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in trucking operations, fleet leadership, and DOT/FMCSA compliance, along with the ability to build a safety-first culture, improve fleet efficiency, and support consistent on-time delivery for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fleet Operations Management: Lead day-to-day fleet operations for a mid-sized trucking fleet, including dispatch coordination, route execution, asset deployment, and delivery performance across regional and assigned lanes.
- Driver Leadership & Accountability: Supervise and support drivers to ensure safe operations, professionalism, policy compliance, and strong service performance. Coach drivers and address attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters as needed.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all applicable DOT, FMCSA, HOS, ELD, DVIR, and vehicle inspection requirements. Partner with internal teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- CNG/RNG Virtual Pipeline Operations: Oversee the safe and efficient movement of CNG/RNG equipment and gas deliveries, including coordination of trailer availability, site scheduling, loading/unloading workflows, and customer delivery requirements.
- Maintenance Coordination: Partner with maintenance providers and internal stakeholders to manage preventive maintenance schedules, repairs, inspections, and equipment downtime. Ensure tractors and trailers are safe, road-ready, and operating at high levels of reliability.
- Asset Utilization & Efficiency: Monitor and improve tractor and trailer utilization, route efficiency, fuel performance, driver productivity, and empty-mile reduction. Identify opportunities to increase uptime and improve operating performance.
- Dispatch & Service Performance: Work closely with dispatch and operations teams to ensure timely load planning, schedule execution, customer communication, and rapid resolution of service disruptions.
- BOL, Invoicing and Driver Payroll Reconciliation: Assist director of operations with reconciling daily BOL’s, accurate monthly invoicing, and accurate driver payroll execution.
- Customer Contract Management: Assist director of operations with company’s adherence to contractual obligations and address with management when terms and conditions are not properly executed.
- Incident Response & Corrective Action: Lead response efforts related to accidents, breakdowns, service failures, and safety incidents. Support investigations, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Documentation & Recordkeeping: Ensure accurate and timely fleet documentation, including driver qualification records, inspection records, maintenance files, training records, and compliance-related reporting.
- KPI Management & Continuous Improvement: Track and report key fleet performance indicators such as on-time delivery, safety events, CSA-related trends, equipment uptime, driver turnover, and cost performance. Use data to identify trends and drive operational improvements.
- Vendor & Service Provider Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party service providers, including maintenance vendors, roadside assistance providers, and other operational partners that support fleet continuity and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent fleet leadership experience will also be considered.
- Experience: 3 + years of experience in trucking, transportation, or fleet operations, including direct responsibility for drivers, equipment, dispatch, and compliance.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success leading a fleet team in a fast-paced operating environment with responsibility for safety, service, and operational execution.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service, ELD compliance, driver qualification files, vehicle inspections, and CSA-related performance expectations.
- Fleet Operations Knowledge: Experience managing tractors, trailers, driver schedules, asset utilization, and service performance in a private, dedicated, or specialized fleet environment.
- Safety Focus: Proven ability to reinforce safe work practices, lead incident follow-up, and maintain high standards of driver and equipment compliance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with fleet management systems, ELD/telematics platforms, dispatch software, and Microsoft Excel for reporting and performance tracking.
- Problem-Solving: Strong operational decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize issues, solve problems quickly, and maintain service continuity in a dynamic environment.
