About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Manager – Information to lead the strategic direction and delivery of Information and Knowledge Management across a large, complex organisation.
Reporting into the Data, Insights & AI leadership function, this role is responsible for ensuring valuable information assets are effectively managed, organised, protected, accessible and understood.
You’ll lead the Information and Records Management practice, own the information management strategy and establish the policies, standards, governance frameworks and processes needed to support a modern digital workplace.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility across information governance, regulatory compliance, information maturity, stakeholder engagement, operational improvement and the ongoing evolution of information practices as new technologies — including AI — change the way information is created and consumed.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Set the strategic direction for Information and Records Management
• Develop and deliver enterprise Information Management strategy
• Establish Information and Records Management policies, standards and procedures
• Lead organisation-wide information governance initiatives
• Develop governance principles, standards and quality frameworks
• Drive improvements in information maturity, capability and compliance
• Ensure information practices continue to evolve alongside new technology and AI
• Provide strategic oversight of legislative and regulatory compliance
• Build strong relationships across business, technology and senior leadership teams
• Engage with relevant government agencies and external stakeholders
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Information Management team
• Contribute to broader Data, Insights & AI strategy and leadership initiatives

What you must bring:

• Significant experience in Information, Knowledge and Records Management
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and leading enterprise Information Management strategies
• Strong experience in Information Governance
• Experience leading organisation-wide information governance or improvement initiatives
• Experience working with large, complex information systems and unstructured information
• Strong knowledge of Information and Records Management frameworks, standards and practices
• Experience operating within a regulated environment
• Strong understanding of compliance and legislative obligations associated with information management
• Proven ability to operate strategically while driving operational effectiveness
• Strong senior stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
• Demonstrated experience leading, motivating and coaching high-performing teams
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information, Knowledge or Records Management, or substantial equivalent experience

Experience within a large public sector organisation is particularly relevant to this position.

This role is Auckland-based. You must already be based in Auckland and hold full, unrestricted New Zealand working rights to be considered.
