Manager, Internal Audit

Role Responsibilities

Deliver risk-based assurance

• Develop and maintain an understanding of the business, its risks, operating environment and regulatory obligations.
• Perform risk assessments to inform audit planning and coverage.
• Lead the planning, execution and reporting of risk-based audits in accordance with Group Internal Audit methodology and professional standards.
• Identify root causes and agree practical, sustainable actions that strengthen the control environment.

Lead audit delivery

• Manage audit teams across assignments and provide coaching, guidance and quality review throughout the audit lifecycle.
• Oversee audit scoping, testing, reporting and closure activities.
• Ensure delivery against agreed timelines, quality standards and resource plans.

Provide insight and influence

• Build trusted relationships with business management and control functions.
• Communicate audit findings, risk themes and emerging risks clearly and effectively.
• Contribute to governance reporting and, where required, present audit outcomes to senior management and governance forums.

Manage findings and portfolio reporting

• Monitor remediation progress and assess closure evidence in accordance with methodology.
• Analyse trends across audit findings and identify recurring control themes.
• Support the preparation of portfolio reporting, risk insights and governance committee updates.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit practices, reporting and management information.

Enable modern audit practices

• Promote the use of data analytics, automation and technology-enabled assurance.
• Apply data-led audit techniques to improve coverage, insight and efficiency.
• Support innovation and continuous improvement within the Internal Audit function.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Audit, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Business, Technology or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as CIA, CA(SA), ACCA, ACA, CPA, CISA, CFE or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Approximately 8 to 12 years of internal audit, external audit, risk management or related experience within a complex organisation.
• Strong experience planning and executing risk-based audits.
• Experience leading audit teams and managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Experience engaging with senior management and multiple stakeholders.
• Banking or financial services experience will be highly advantageous.
• Experience using data analytics and technology-enabled audit techniques.
• Understanding of technology controls, digital business processes and emerging risks.

Leadership and Technical Capabilities

• Strong understanding of internal auditing, governance, risk management and control frameworks.
• Ability to analyse complex data and translate findings into practical insights.
• Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong report-writing capability and attention to detail.
• Sound judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively.
• Ability to lead, coach and develop audit professionals.
• High ethical standards and commitment to quality.
