Spire Hockey is currently comprised of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL, the premier “AA” professional hockey organization in North America.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Spire and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits seek a Manager, Mascot Programs & Outreach. This is a full-time role for a Mascot Performer who desires to be a performer in costume AND a contributor to increasing the team brand presence in the community, behind the scenes. The role will be responsible for fostering and maintaining positive relationships with community partners; grassroots marketing; positive brand image and prospecting new business; with the primary goal of building impactful relationships in the Greenville community. These relationships will include (but not limited to), corporate partners; schools; nonprofit organizations; business leaders and youth sports.

The Manager, Mascot Programs & Outreach will; regularly perform in the Team Mascot costume (Stomper) - with a goal of bringing the character's personality to life; be extremely personable, an effective multi-tasker, and have a passion for fan engagement and community causes. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter that takes initiative and thinks creatively.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform in the Mascot Costume for all Hockey Games (home), outreach events and other activities as scheduled (i.e. Photo Shoots, Video commercials, etc.)
• Support of the Community Relations Department, including prospecting; relationship development; sponsor activation
• Develop grassroots marketing/community outreach strategies, and event coordination, that positively promote the Swamp Rabbits brand, and raises the profile of Stomper as a "fixture in the community" Develop and manage structured school programs and campaigns- - specifically pertaining to the Mascot Program and mascot appearances
• Plan, develop, and execute strategic promotions and theme nights in support of the ticket sales department
• Prospecting to generate new nonprofit relationships; responsible for hosting client meetings and potential client presentations on a regular basis
• Provide prompt, thorough, and courteous responses to all inbound & outbound customer communication – phone calls, emails, mail, etc.; maintain high level of customer service to existing and new clients Perform “game day” responsibilities- - acting in character of Stomper for all home hockey games. An ability to ice skate is preferred.
• Create and manage a schedule of events and appearances, including but not limited to; outreach festivals, community family fun days, structured program appearances and nonprofit events
• Adhere to a donations budget and oversee the process of donation requests / fulfillment

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

• Strong ability and desire to perform in the Mascot Costume regularly. Ability to Ice Skate is strongly preferred.
• Highly organized, resourceful, detailed-oriented, quick learner and time management skills
• Excellent relationship building and customer service skills.
• Ability to learn in a team environment and adhere to departmental guidelines
• Ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn required business systems
• Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Experience:

• 1-2 years of related work experience; preferably in the sports industry performing as a Team Mascot.
• Must be able to work game nights, weekends, and holidays, based on an events schedule.
