MANAGER, MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Mechanical and Electrical to join AFA Construction and Engineering Sdn. Bhd. This is a contract position based in Batu Caves, Selangor, offering a strategic leadership opportunity within our construction project management division. You will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical and electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, timelines, and budgetary requirements. This role is pivotal in maintaining the quality and safety standards that define our reputation in the construction sector.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, Coordinate and supervise the operation, maintenance and performance of all M & E system and assets for the KL-Karak Highway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (ECE 1) related to highway asset maintenance such as Highway Lighting System (HLS), Traffic Control & Surveillance System (TCSS) : M & E Buildings, M & E Tunnel Systems and Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) maintenance protocol.
• Ensure all M & E operation and maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in compliance with the Company's policies, contractual obligations, client requirements, statutory regulations and applicable engineering standards. Manage and coordinate all mechanical and electrical installations and systems on assigned construction projects
• Plan, coordinate, monitor, review and control the implementation of Major Maintenance, minor Maintenance, Routine Maintenance, Panel Contracts and other engineering projects to ensure timely completion within the approved scope, quality standards and budget.
• Lead to review and manage the annual operating and capital expenditure (OPEX and CAPEX) budgets for M & E operations and monitor expenditure to ensure effective cost control
• Coordinate and monitor the M & E Expressway Performance Indicator (EPI) programmed and ensure compliance with Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia requirements
• Monitor CePSTPO activities to ensure the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) is operated and maintained in full compliance with environmental regulation s, license conditions and statutory requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline

• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is compulsory

• Minimum 10 years' experience in Highway Expressway or infrastructure projects with substantial focus on mechanical and electrical systems

• Professional certification such as Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent qualification in the relevant jurisdiction

• Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects with complex mechanical and electrical requirements

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles, standards and best practices

• Excellent leadership and team management capabilities with ability to motivate and develop staff

• Proficiency in project management software and tools

• Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders

• Comprehensive understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations applicable to construction

• Problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to managing project challenges

• Experience with budget management and cost control is highly advantageous
