Manager - OPD

K.J. Somaiya Hospital & Research Centre, a 550-bedded medical college and hospital in Sion, Mumbai, is hiring a Manager - OPD to lead its outpatient department operations. Immediate joiners preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day functioning of the OPD and ensure smooth patient flow from registration to consultation
• Manage OPD registration, appointment scheduling and consultant-wise slot planning
• Supervise front office, OPD counters and patient care coordinators on duty
• Monitor waiting times and take corrective action to reduce patient waiting at counters and consultation rooms
• Coordinate with consultants and departments for OPD schedules, leave adjustments and substitute arrangements
• Ensure accurate OPD billing, cash handling and daily reconciliation with the billing team
• Handle patient complaints and grievances at the OPD level and escalate where required
• Coordinate with diagnostics, pharmacy and IPD for smooth patient movement and admissions from OPD
• Ensure availability of manpower, stationery, signage and basic infrastructure in all OPD areas
• Implement and monitor SOPs for OPD operations and ensure staff adherence
• Monitor OPD footfall, consultant-wise patient count and revenue, and prepare daily and monthly MIS
• Drive patient satisfaction initiatives and conduct feedback analysis for the OPD
• Ensure compliance with NABH standards, infection control and documentation requirements in OPD areas
• Train and appraise OPD staff and manage their duty rosters
• Coordinate with marketing for camps, referral patients and corporate OPD tie-ups
• Any other assignment given by management from time to time

Desired Candidate Profile

• Graduate in any discipline; MHA or MBA in Hospital Administration or Healthcare Management preferred
• Experience in OPD or hospital operations with team handling responsibility
• Strong understanding of patient flow, appointment systems and hospital software
• Good command of MS Excel for MIS and daily reporting
• Excellent communication and patient handling skills in English, Hindi and Marathi
• Ability to stay calm and resolve issues in a high-footfall environment
• Immediate joiners or candidates with a short notice period will be preferred
