Manager, Operations (Trade Finance)

Overview

The Manager of Trade Finance Operations is responsible for planning and overseeing the daily operations and strategic projects within the Trade Finance department. This role ensures that all processing activities strictly adhere to the Bank's credit policies and statutory regulations. Additionally, the Manager will play a key role in building a high-performing team by focusing on talent development, driving operational excellence, and ensuring seamless service delivery for corporate clients.

Responsibilities

• Operations & Project Management: Lead and manage the Trade Finance processing team serving Business and Corporate Banking (BCB) customers. Oversee day-to-day operations and related projects to ensure they comply with internal operating procedures and external regulatory guidelines.
• Risk & Compliance Representative: Act as the main coordinator for SWIFT and FI RMA correspondences, and ensure full adherence to organizational governance (HLBVN) and regulatory requirements.
• Service Excellence & Client Relations: Ensure the delivery of highly efficient processing services. Establish, monitor, and meet minimum standard service turnaround times (SLA). Resolve client queries effectively and maintain strong, cordial relationships with internal business units and external stakeholders.
• Process Improvement: Formulate and refine systems and work processes. Champion the operation service model and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to successfully deliver system upgrades, process improvements, and new project initiatives.
• Team Leadership & Development: Manage, coach, and motivate a team of 5 staff members with a hands-on approach. Set clear performance expectations, assess individual targets, and foster a collaborative environment focused on high productivity and top-tier service quality.

Skills & Experience We Are Looking For

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher with a major in Foreign Trade, Commercial Finance, Banking, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 5 years of leadership experience in trade finance, discounted bills, bank guarantees, and/or wholesale credit/trade operations. Proven track record of managing a sizable operations team.
• Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding and practical application of international trade practices, including UCP600, URC, URR, ISBP, ISP, and URDG. Familiarity with relevant application systems (e.g., BDS, FX, TF SWIFT).
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong exposure to AML policies, FX regulations, and Credit guidelines.
• Core Skills: Exceptional management, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Work Style: Ability to independently manage multiple initiatives, work under demanding circumstances, and consistently meet strict deadlines.
• Advantageous: Prior experience with regulatory reporting, wholesale loans, treasury operations, or TT (Telegraphic Transfer) operations is a strong plus.
