Position Summary

Banyan Tree Escape Balak is seeking an experienced and dependable Manager - Security to lead the Security function through the pre-opening phase and into full operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will establish the resort’s security framework from the ground up, safeguarding our guests, associates, and assets while preserving the warm, discreet, and welcoming atmosphere expected of a luxury resort.

The successful candidate will be a composed and service-minded security professional with strong knowledge of Indonesian security regulations, hospitality security operations, and community relations in Bali. This role will drive security excellence by building a well-trained team, establishing clear procedures, and fostering strong relationships with local authorities and the surrounding community.

Candidates with proven experience in luxury hotel or resort pre-openings in Bali or elsewhere in Indonesia are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage all Security functions, ensuring alignment with business goals, brand standards, and company policies.
2. Develop the pre-opening Security plan, including organization structure, manning guides, post orders, recruitment timeline, and training schedule.
3. Conduct security risk assessments and provide input on the resort’s layout, access control, CCTV, lighting, perimeter, and security systems during construction and commissioning.
4. Establish security policies, procedures, and standards, including access control, key control, lost and found, incident reporting, and guest and associate safety protocols.
5. Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and crisis management plans, including evacuation, fire, natural disaster, and medical emergency procedures, and conduct regular drills.
6. Oversee 24-hour security operations, including patrols, surveillance monitoring, gate and parking control, and event and VIP security.
7. Build strong relationships with the local police, authorities, neighboring communities, and local village structures to support a safe and harmonious environment.
8. Ensure full compliance with Indonesian laws and regulations governing security personnel and operations, including required certification and licensing.
9. Manage the resort’s security systems, including CCTV, alarm, access control, and communications equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained and operational.
10. Investigate incidents, complaints, and losses, maintaining accurate documentation and providing timely reports to management.
11. Partner with Engineering, Human Capital, Rooms, Food & Beverage, and Spa to support safety, loss prevention, and a positive guest experience.
12. Prepare and manage the pre-opening and annual Security budgets, including manpower, equipment, and contracted services.
13. Manage external security contractors and service agreements, if applicable, ensuring quality and compliance.
14. Recruit, train, and develop the Security team, with a strong focus on service-oriented behavior, first aid, and fire safety awareness, and build strong local talent.
15. Provide regular Security updates and reports to Regional / Corporate Security and senior management.

Qualifications

1. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related fields.
2. Minimum 5–7 years of progressive security experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within luxury hotels or resorts.
3. Proven pre-opening experience is strongly preferred, ideally in a luxury resort setting.
4. Strong experience in the Bali or Indonesian hospitality market is highly preferred.
5. Valid Indonesian security certification (such as Gada Pratama, Madya, or Utama) is highly preferred.
6. Sound knowledge of Indonesian security regulations, emergency management, fire safety, and first aid.
7. Experience with CCTV, access control, and other security systems.
8. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a calm and professional demeanor and a service-oriented approach.
9. Ability to build good relationships with local authorities, communities, and stakeholders at all levels.
10. Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, vigilant, and hands-on mindset.
11. Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
12. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and flexibly across shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
