Manager / Senior Manager - AI Governance

Overview

Join an established bank in Hong Kong as Manager / Senior Manager – AI Governance , supporting the development and implementation of governance standards for the responsible adoption of AI. You will lead policy and control initiatives that help business and Technology teams pursue AI opportunities while maintaining appropriate oversight, accountability and risk management.

About the Role

This opportunity is suited to a governance or risk professional with practical exposure to AI initiatives and strong financial-services knowledge. Reporting to the Section Head, Data Governance, you will work with business, Technology, Data Science and control functions to translate AI-governance requirements into practical review, monitoring and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

• The primary responsibility is to enhance Bank's AI-governance guidelines, policies, and risk controls, with a significant focus on reviewing AI risk as it is deployed across the bank.
• Coordinate governance reviews of proposed AI use cases, working with relevant stakeholders to assess data usage, privacy, security, regulatory considerations and required controls.
• Deliver AI policy updates and maintain existing documentation, with a focus on expanding implementation guidelines and supporting users through the use-case approval process.
• Work on laying out road map and execute strategy
• Lead ongoing initiatives to enhance the control environment as the bank builds out its AI capabilities.
• Establish processes for documenting AI initiatives, assigning accountable owners, recording governance decisions and tracking conditions, issues and remediation actions.
• This role requires close collaboration with Compliance and Legal, so prior experience working with these stakeholders is strongly preferred.
• Prepare AI-governance committee materials, management reports and escalation papers, providing clear updates on adoption activity, emerging risks and control gaps.
• Monitor relevant regulatory and internal-policy developments, promote responsible AI awareness, and coach team members in the practical application of AI-governance standards.

Requirements

• We're looking for someone dynamic and adaptable. Prior governance experience is not required. Banking background is ideal, although candidates with Insurance or Telecommunications industry experience will also be considered.
• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Risk Management or a related discipline.
• Substantial experience in AI governance, technology risk, model governance, data governance or related control functions within banking, financial services or Fintech, including leadership of a team or cross-functional workstreams.
• Practical experience supporting the governance, assessment or controlled implementation of AI initiatives, with exposure to machine learning, generative AI or large language model use cases.
• A strong understanding of Model Risk is considered a distinct advantage
• Proven ability to develop policies, guidelines, review processes and governance reporting, translating requirements into actionable controls.
• Sound understanding of AI-related data privacy, protection, security and accountability considerations, together with the Hong Kong banking regulatory environment.
• Ability to work effectively with technical specialists and business stakeholders, assess governance issues and communicate recommendations clearly without requiring ownership of model development.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder-management and communication skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
