Manager / Senior Technical Project Manager – Functional Test

About the Role

We are seeking a Functional Test Manager (or Senior Technical Project Manager) to lead a high-energy team of skilled engineers responsible for the deployment, production support, and maintenance of functional test equipment at our Hsinchu manufacturing site. You will own team planning and execution, balance competing priorities, partner closely with cross-functional groups, and serve as the primary point of contact for the customer on functional test performance. This role calls for a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in functional testing and electrical engineering, and the communication skills to keep teams and customers aligned.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

·       Lead, mentor, and develop a team of energetic, highly skilled engineers responsible for functional test deployment, production support, and maintenance.

·       Provide technical leadership

·       Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Planning and Prioritization

·       Plan, schedule, and track team activities across tester deployments, production support, and maintenance work.

·       Prioritize conflicting requirements and allocate resources to meet production, quality, and customer commitments.

·       Identify risks early, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues as needed.

Tester Deployment, Health and Maintenance

·       Drive the deployment of functional test equipment into production, including installation, bring-up, qualification, and release.

·       Maintain and monitor tester health, uptime, and performance; establish preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

·       Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of tester failures, yield issues, and production line-down events.

Cross Functional Collaboration

·       Partner with Operations, Inventory, Admin, and other cross-functional teams to secure the tools, spare parts, facilities, and support the team needs to work effectively.

·       Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing stakeholders to align test readiness with production schedules.

Customer Engagement

·       Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer on functional test matters.

·       Deliver clear, concise daily to weekly status updates covering progress, issues, risks, and next steps.

Metrics and Reporting

·       Define, track, and drive key metrics such as tester uptime, MTBF/MTTR, throughput, yield, and deployment schedule adherence.

·       Use data to identify improvement opportunities and hold the team accountable to performance targets.

Qualifications

·       Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.

·       Strong technical knowledge of functional testing and electrical engineering.

·       Proven experience deploying test equipment into production and maintaining it.

·       Experience leading or managing engineering teams and planning team activities.

·       Demonstrated ability to prioritize conflicting requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

·       Fluency in English, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and crisply to both technical and non-technical audiences.

·       Willingness to relocate to Hsinchu, Taiwan, to be close to the factory.

Preferred

·       Experience designing or building test equipment.

·       Proficiency in Mandarin.

Location and Relocation

This position is based on-site in Hsinchu, Taiwan, close to our manufacturing facility. Candidates not currently in Hsinchu must be willing to relocate.
