Manager, Software Engineering (Marketplace Performance)

For our client, we are seeking a Manager, Software Engineering (Marketplace Performance) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will lead a software engineering team focused on delivering highly reliable, large-scale backend systems that support critical business performance. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and operations stakeholders to set technical strategy, manage risk, and drive execution across the full development lifecycle. The position also emphasizes building strong operational processes, fostering engineering quality, and developing a high-performing team in a fast-moving, consumer-facing environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $204,000 – $290,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Set the technical strategy for your team in alignment with critical business initiatives
• Collaborate across teams throughout the product development lifecycle to manage technical risks
• Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that act as a force multiplier for the team
• Manage team operations and availability with effective monitoring, triage, and support mechanisms
• Foster a culture of quality through code review standards and organizational advocacy
• Develop team talent by providing feedback and leading by example
• Promote a culture of accountability and ownership through documentation and technical talks

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing and launching large-scale backend systems, preferably using Python or Kotlin
• Proven track record developing highly reliable distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes
• Experience with UI frameworks like React for consumer-facing applications
• 2+ years of experience in ad tech or related platforms
• Ability to write clear, high-quality code and deliver major features through technical planning and execution
• Strong ability to handle ambiguity and understand both low-level code and large system architecture
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across global teams
