Position Summary The Supply Development Manager leads the development, qualification, and performance improvement of HUSCO’s India-based casting and machining supply base. The role is focused on hydraulic-grade iron castings (grey, compacted graphite, and ductile iron – greensand and shell mold), high-pressure aluminum die castings with secondary machining, and dedicated machine shops supplying finished components to HUSCO India and other global HUSCO facilities. The position partners with global Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams to launch new programs, drive supplier capability, and ensure delivered parts meet hydraulic application requirements.

HUSCO provides individuals with the opportunity to pursue a career within a fast-paced, industry-leading and entrepreneurial organization.

Husco is committed to building an environment for employees to be able:

  • To have the flexibility of their own work and put a personal ‘stamp’ on their output.
  • Continuously expand and development their professional skills and knowledge.
  • Create a product for our customers that serves a greater purpose to communities around the world.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • New Product Introduction (NPI) Leadership
  • Lead supplier development activities for new programs in partnership with global Engineering and Purchasing teams, from print review through SOP.
  • Own and execute DPAR, PPAP, Safe Launch, and Heightened Control Plan deployment at India casting and machining suppliers.
  • Support early design and manufacturability reviews for castings and machined components, including gating/feeding, machining stock, and critical-to-function feature capability.
  • Drive supplier readiness, tooling validation, and PPAP approval to meet global launch timing for parts shipped to HUSCO facilities (India and global).
  • Participate in capacity planning and equipment selection for the overall process for both foundry and machining development in partnership with Husco supply chain and supplier’s leadership team.
  • Supplier Performance, Quality & Improvement
  • Manage supplier performance against PPM, on-time delivery, and quality targets for the India casting and machining base supporting global HUSCO plants.
  • Lead Non-Conformance Report (NCR) closure: ensure timely containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification at suppliers.
  • Develop, deploy, and govern formal Supplier Improvement Plans (SIPs) for underperforming suppliers, with clear milestones and exit criteria.
  • Drive process capability improvement in foundry operations (sand, melt chemistry, pouring, shakeout) and in machining (fixturing, tooling, CNC capability, metrology/gauging).
  • Supplier Auditing & New Supplier Evaluation
  • Conduct process, quality system, and capacity audits at existing iron foundries, aluminum HPDC suppliers, and machine shops.
  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers through capability assessments, technical audits, and risk reviews.
  • Identify sourcing risks and prioritize development activities to strengthen the India supply base for hydraulic-grade castings and finished machined parts.
  • Reporting & Governance
  • Publish weekly reporting on NPI program status, supplier PPM performance, and open NCR status to HIP and global stakeholders.
  • Maintain visibility on supplier development pipeline, audit schedule, and SIP progress.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
  • Influence and guide India suppliers and internal teams to deliver against global sourcing and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with HUSCO global factories, NPI teams, Machining & Castings leadership, and Corporate Sourcing.
  • Provide clear direction, decision-making, and composure during supply constraints or launch escalations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering within castings and machining commodities.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of iron foundry processes (greensand, shell mold) for grey, compacted graphite, and ductile iron — ideally for pressure-containing applications.
  • Working knowledge of high-pressure aluminum die casting and secondary CNC machining of cast components.
  • Demonstrated execution of APQP / PPAP / Safe Launch / Heightened Control Plan methodologies.
  • Proven track record managing NCR closure, 8D problem solving, and Supplier Improvement Plans.
  • Experience auditing suppliers (process and system) and qualifying new sources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with global Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams across time zones.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
