PREPARATORY OFFICE FOR PRIVATE UNIVERSITY

[Appointment period: twelve months]

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is embarking on a major transformative initiative to convert its College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) into a new private university in Hong Kong.  To spearhead this transition, PolyU is establishing a Preparatory Office for Private University.  The long-term goal of this development is to become a world-class private university with distinct characteristics as determined by its social, cultural and geographical environments.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) assist in compiling and assessing the evidence, as well as drafting and editing accreditation documents in preparation for Institutional Review (IR) for Private University Title for submission to The Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ);

(b) assist in the self-review and mock panels for different stakeholders, identifying areas of weakness in their responses;

(c) assist in training and briefing for external and internal stakeholders to foster quality assurance culture for the actual HKCAAVQ site visit;

(d) assist in formulating policies and the staff model of central functions including finance, human resources, campus infrastructure, public relations and IT development of the new university;

(e) provide secretariat support to related committees, site visit interviews and mock sessions; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Preparatory Office or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree in Education, Language or a related discipline;

(b) have at least five years of solid administrative and supervisory experience in education and training, preferably with a minimum of three years’ experience relevant to quality assurance, but not limited to programme validation/accreditation;

(c) be familiar with the HKCAAVQ accreditation standards, and assessment procedures and protocols, Hong Kong Qualifications Framework as well as Hong Kong and overseas education systems will be an advantage;

(d) have strong analytical, organisational and writing skills;

(e) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; and

(f) have ability to work under high pressure and tight timelines.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
