The Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai (the Authority) was established as a Crown Entity in 2021, following the outbreak of illness in the Havelock North community as a result of drinking contaminated water from the public water supply. The Authority oversees and regulates the safety and quality of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services across New Zealand. We do this on behalf of consumers and communities throughout New Zealand, so they can have confidence in the safety and quality of their drinking water and the impact on their environment.

As Manager, Workplace and Risk, you’ll have the opportunity to lead work that directly supports the safety, resilience and success of our organisation. You’ll oversee a diverse portfolio spanning risk, assurance, health and safety, business continuity, information management and workplace services. Working closely with leaders and teams across the Authority, you’ll influence key decisions, strengthen organisational capability and help create a positive workplace where our people can thrive.

The Manager, Workplace and Risk will

• Shape the Authority’s approach to organisational risk, assurance and resilience.

• Lead health and safety, facilities, fleet and workplace services.

• Influence key decisions through strategic advice to leaders and governance groups.

• Drive improvements across information management, corporate policies and workplace change.

• Build a positive culture focused on safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

We are looking for someone who,

• Has extensive leadership experience across risk, assurance, health and safety, workplace, facilities or related corporate services.

• Proven experience developing and monitoring enterprise risk and assurance frameworks in New Zealand’s public sector.

• Experience developing and implementing organisational policies, frameworks and operating procedures.

• Experience leading business continuity and organisational resilience planning.
