Managing Engineer, Data Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Managing Engineer, Data Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will guide a data engineering team responsible for building and supporting scalable data solutions that power business operations and decision-making.

You will set engineering standards, strengthen delivery practices, and partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to improve the reliability, security, and performance of data platforms.

The position also combines hands-on technical leadership with mentoring responsibilities, helping ensure strong production support, sound data governance, and durable pipeline architecture.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $120,000 – $193,725 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Data Engineers, supporting professional growth and technical development
• Establish engineering standards and promote best practices across the team
• Design and implement scalable batch and streaming data solutions
• Integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring reliability and security
• Optimize data pipelines and support production operations during incidents
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on data priorities
• Promote data governance and ensure compliance with security standards

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in data solutions and enterprise software systems
• 1-3 years of technical leadership or mentorship experience
• Strong hands-on skills in Python, Java, or Scala for data pipeline development
• Experience with Apache technologies such as Spark and Kafka
• Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL databases, and data modeling concepts
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
