Managing Engineer (Java Engineering)

For our client, we are seeking a Managing Engineer (Java Engineering) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will lead a software engineering team focused on building and supporting enterprise-grade Java solutions that drive business execution and operational reliability. The position blends hands-on technical contribution with people leadership, requiring close partnership with cross-functional stakeholders to align architecture, delivery, and engineering standards. The ideal candidate will help shape technical direction, strengthen delivery practices, and develop engineering talent in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $120,000 – $193,725 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop high-performing software engineering teams
• Contribute production-quality Java code and troubleshoot complex issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business goals
• Guide teams through Agile product discovery and delivery processes
• Establish and evolve technical roadmaps and engineering standards
• Drive engineering excellence through modern development practices
• Support workforce planning and talent development activities

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership in enterprise applications
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot development
• Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices, and cloud-native development
• Experience in Agile environments managing software engineers
• Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering talent
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
