What they need
Role Background
We are a cross-border payments company. Last year we completed the acquisition of a European company, and we are now at a critical stage of post-merger integration and value creation. We are hiring a M&A Integration Manager who will serve as the direct executive extension of our M&A Integration Manager on the European project: fully owning day-to-day communication and integration delivery with the European subsidiary, coordinating cross-functional initiatives across internal channels, banking partnerships, operations, technology, and product/R&D, and building the performance monitoring mechanism for the portfolio company. You will translate the acquired company's operating reality and genuine pain points into decision-ready options for management, while translating the group's strategic intent into executable tasks for each department — and driving them to closure.
This role is neither an executive assistant nor a pure strategy analyst. It is the project hub of the integration phase: your output shows up directly as every to-do item closed, every bottleneck broken through, and every cross-time-zone meeting ending with clear conclusions and named owners. Strong performers will grow within 1–2 years into a genuine decision-maker and a post-investment management lead covering multiple portfolio projects, with the opportunity to get involved earlier in the deal execution phase of future overseas acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dutch Subsidiary Communication & Integration Execution (~50%)
- Serve as the day-to-day liaison between the Asia team and the Dutch management team; maintain the cadence of weekly / bi-weekly / monthly business review meetings, ensuring communication never breaks and decisions never stall during Dutch management transitions (e.g., when key leaders are on leave)
- Track milestone progress against the business integration roadmap (channel connectivity, banking relationships, systems integration, compliance alignment, etc.) and take ownership of delivering on synergy commitments
- Own the preparation, facilitation, and follow-up of all meetings, including English meeting minutes and action-item tracking; be accountable for the closure of every action item
- Build a risk register and escalation mechanism so delays and risks are surfaced before they materialize; identify the real bottlenecks in integration (resources, priorities, compliance, personnel), break them through point by point, and — when necessary — package them into clear decision options for escalation
2. Business Performance Monitoring & Cross-Functional Project Delivery (~40%)
- Establish the performance monitoring mechanism for the portfolio company: track core operating metrics (transaction volume, revenue, channel performance, compliance matters) and produce monthly operating and post-investment reports
- Coordinate across channels, banking partnerships, operations, technology, and product/R&D to drive the delivery of M&A-integration-related and cross-business-line initiatives
- Build and maintain project tracking mechanisms (project dashboards, risk registers, escalation paths); attend selected internal coordination meetings on behalf of the Head of Strategy & M&A, accurately convey decision intent, and bring back structured conclusions
3. Strategy & M&A Support (~10%)
- Institutionalize the post-investment management and integration playbook (templates, cadences, mechanisms) to prepare for running multiple projects in parallel; progressively take over business analysis and the drafting of management reporting materials
Requirements (Must-Haves)
- Experience & background: 2–4 years of work experience; must have studied overseas or worked full-time abroad, with first-hand exposure to and understanding of European business culture
- Near-native English as a working language (required): able to independently chair meetings in English and communicate with the Dutch team in business settings without friction
- Extreme attention to detail: instinctive sensitivity to deadlines, owners, and dependencies; the trackers, minutes, and reports you maintain can withstand line-by-line scrutiny
- Multi-thread execution: proven experience driving multiple workstreams / projects in parallel, and the ability to clearly explain how you pushed a stuck project to closure
- Fast learning: able to quickly get up to speed in the payments / fintech context (acquiring, clearing & settlement, channels, compliance, licensing)
- Working style: comfortable with cross-time-zone collaboration (China–Europe time difference) and open to occasional business travel to Europe
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Post-investment management or portfolio support experience in PE/VC or a corporate strategic investment arm
- M&A integration or PMO project experience at a (strategy) consulting firm
- Strategy, operations, or CEO Office experience at a payments company or cross-border fintech
- Management trainee programs at global banks, or strategy / operations experience at card networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
- Additional European languages beyond English (Dutch)
Traits We Value
- Push the work, not the people: figure out the real reason behind a bottleneck first, then choose between resolving it privately or escalating it to a meeting — rather than just sending chase emails
- Two-way translation: able to translate strategic intent into tasks each department can act on, and translate the portfolio company's pain points into options management can decide on
- High signal density: concise communication, conclusions first, no filler
What We Offer
- Direct reporting line to the Head of Strategy & M&A, with end-to-end involvement in the full practice of cross-border M&A integration and post-investment management
- A clear growth path within 1–2 years: integration execution → Chief of Staff / multi-project post-investment lead → core management role in the overseas business
- Competitive compensation and opportunities to travel to Europe
