Fluent Mandarin is essential for this role. You'll use it every day with head office.

Our client is a major international bank with its UK headquarters in the City of London. They're looking for a bilingual Infrastructure Engineer to help run and develop the bank's server, network and security estate. Reporting to the Deputy Head of IT, you'll be a hands-on engineer in a small, capable team. You'll own your part of the infrastructure end to end and work closely with head office in China.

What you'll be doing

• Building, maintaining and patching Windows Server 2019 environments, including Active Directory, Exchange, RDS and DFS
• Running the VMware/vSphere estate: capacity, performance and upgrades
• Managing backup and recovery with Veeam or Backup Exec, and testing restores regularly
• Configuring and supporting hardware firewalls, routers and switches (HP, Cisco, Juniper or Huawei)
• Monitoring the infrastructure, responding to alerts and resolving incidents before they affect the business
• Providing Tier 2 escalation support to the service desk
• Working on infrastructure projects and liaising with head office in both Mandarin and English

What you'll need

• Fluent Mandarin and English, spoken and written (essential)
• 3+ years' infrastructure or systems engineering experience in a corporate environment
• Strong hands-on skills in Windows Server, AD, Exchange and VMware
• Good working knowledge of firewalls, routing and switching
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery
• Banking or financial services experience is a plus
• Desirable: MCSA, MCSE, VCP or CCNA/CCNP
