Role Description The Mandarin Translator role at POWERCHINA is a contract, on-site position based in Pakil. The translator will provide accurate and timely translation between Mandarin and English (and local language where applicable) for technical documents, project reports, emails, presentations, and meeting materials. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting during meetings and site visits, supporting communication between local teams and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders, and ensuring that technical and contractual terminology is consistently and correctly used. The role also involves reviewing and refining translated content for clarity, maintaining translation glossaries and reference materials, and coordinating with project managers and engineers to fully understand context and requirements. The translator will work closely with cross-functional teams on-site, contributing to effective collaboration and smooth project execution.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Mandarin and Filipino, with excellent reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
• Proven experience in translation and interpretation, preferably in engineering, construction, or energy-related projects.
• Ability to accurately translate technical and commercial documents while preserving meaning, tone, and context.
• Solid understanding of professional communication practices and intercultural communication in business settings.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple translation tasks under time constraints.
• Comfort working on-site in Pakil and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, managers, and external partners.
• Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with basic translation tools or glossaries.
• Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Translation, Communication, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience with international companies or infrastructure projects is an advantage.
