Working Environment & Projects

You will join a specialist cost management team, providing dedicated M&E cost advice across a diverse portfolio of projects. Assignments span a broad mix of sectors, including Data Centres, Education, Transport and Commercial developments, offering strong variety and consistent exposure to technically complex, mechanical and electrical-intensive builds.

The role offers involvement across the full project lifecycle, from early cost planning and procurement through to measurement, valuations and final account. This provides well-rounded experience and regular engagement with designers, contractors and client stakeholders.

The working culture is collaborative and development-focused, with strong technical mentorship and a structured framework supporting progression into more senior cost management positions. Flexible working arrangements are also supported.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated cost management support for mechanical and electrical services across a range of infrastructure and construction projects
• Prepare cost plans, estimates and budgets for M&E packages at all project stages
• Carry out measurement, valuations and interim payment assessments for M&E works
• Support procurement of M&E packages, including tender analysis and contractor recommendations
• Manage variations, change control and final account preparation for M&E elements
• Liaise closely with design teams, contractors and clients to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting
• Benchmark M&E costs and contribute to continuous improvement of cost management processes

What You Need

• Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor or M&E Cost Manager within construction or cost consultancy
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical services cost management across the full project lifecycle
• Experience across Data Centres, Education, Transport, Commercial or similarly technical project types is an advantage
• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills
• Professional membership (e.g. SCSI/RICS) or working towards chartership is desirable
