M&E Drawing Engineer / Drafter

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Drawing Engineer / Drafter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, updating, and coordinating technical drawings for M&E building services, with particular emphasis on electrical systems, electrical equipment, switchboards, power distribution, and related electrical works. The role will work closely with project engineers, consultants, contractors, and site teams to ensure drawings are technically accurate, coordinated, compliant with regulatory requirements, and suitable for project execution and authority submission.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and revise M&E schematic drawings, layout drawings, shop drawings, single-line diagrams (SLD), and as-built drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Develop and coordinate drawings for building services including electrical power supply, switchboards, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and other M&E systems.
• Coordinate M&E drawings with architectural, structural, and other engineering drawings to identify and minimise clashes before construction.
• Prepare drawings and relevant technical documentation required for project execution and authority submissions.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable Malaysian standards, local authority requirements, building regulations, and project specifications.
• Update drawings according to site conditions, engineering changes, consultant comments, and project requirements.
• Work closely with project engineers, consultants, contractors, and site teams throughout the construction and installation stages.
• Assist in resolving drawing-related and technical coordination issues during project implementation.
• Maintain proper drawing records, revisions, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Drafting, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant M&E drafting / drawing experience is preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit / BIM will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge and practical understanding of electrical systems, electrical equipment, switchboards, power distribution, and electricity-related works is essential.
• Experience preparing and coordinating M&E drawings for commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or other sizeable projects.
• Good understanding of M&E coordination with architectural and structural drawings.
• Familiarity with Malaysian authority submission procedures and statutory requirements is preferred.
• Able to communicate and coordinate effectively with engineers, consultants, contractors, and site personnel.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently while managing drawing revisions and project deadlines.
• Recognised IR / professional qualification or competency that allows endorsement, approval, or signing of relevant technical drawings for Majlis / local authority submission will be highly preferred.
