What they need

About LearnWise

LearnWise AI is an AI-first scale-up building virtual assistants, instructor efficiency tools, and student engagement solutions for universities and colleges. We're a small team moving fast: the best idea wins no matter who says it, and every hire owns real scope from day one.

About the role

LearnWise builds AI products for higher education that run inside Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle, and Blackboard via LTI. We ship on a biweekly release cycle with hotfixes in between, and every feature passes QA before it reaches universities. We are hiring a manual QA engineer who owns testing for a product area end to end: decides what to test, finds what breaks, proves it with technical evidence, and tells the team plainly what is and isn't covered before a release goes out. No coding is required; curiosity, precision, and comfort with browser DevTools are.

What you'll do

Test new features and fixes

  • Plan and run happy-path, negative, edge-case, visual, and accessibility tests.

Work across environments

  • Verify changes in sandbox, development, and production.

Test LMS integrations

  • Set up and smoke-test our products inside major learning management systems.

Report defects clearly

  • File actionable reports with steps, expected vs. actual results, and technical evidence.

Test roles and permissions

  • Confirm each user role can do what it should, and nothing more.

What you bring

  • 2+ years of manual QA on web applications (SaaS preferred).
  • Strong test design: you derive test cases from a ticket and design without being handed a checklist.
  • Daily use of browser DevTools: console errors, network requests, status codes, payloads.
  • Defect reports that need no follow-up questions; experience with Linear, Jira, or similar.
  • Clear, direct written and spoken English; you raise blockers early and say plainly what you did not test.
  • Experience using AI tools for work, e.g., Codex or Claude.

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of accessibility testing (WCAG, keyboard, screen readers, axe or Lighthouse).
  • Experience with LMS platforms (Canvas, Brightspace/D2L, Moodle, Blackboard) or LTI integrations.
  • Testing AI/LLM products: judging answer quality, sources, and non-deterministic output.
  • API testing with Postman or similar.
  • Exposure to test automation (e.g., Playwright), enough to write checklists automation can consume.
