- Opportunities for professional development and career advancement
About the Role
As our Manufacturing & Process Improvement Engineer, you will focus on improving the manufacturing system itself. You will use operating data, engineering analysis, and plant-floor observations to identify bottlenecks, reduce costs, improve throughput, optimize energy and labor use, and strengthen process reliability.
You will work closely with Operations and our existing Maintenance Engineer while leading process redesign, equipment improvements, CAPEX projects, commissioning, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Process Improvement
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints, waste, downtime, and productivity opportunities.
- Improve throughput, cycle time, labor productivity, energy consumption, yield, equipment utilization, material flow, and process stability.
- Establish and monitor practical manufacturing metrics such as tons/hour, cost per unit, downtime, energy/unit, yield, capacity utilization, and OEE where applicable.
- Use structured problem-solving to identify root causes and develop sustainable engineering solutions.
- Work with Operations and frontline teams to implement and sustain process improvements.
Equipment & Process Engineering
- Lead selected equipment and process redesign projects, including process reconfiguration, mechanization, automation, layout improvements, and material-handling improvements.
- Analyze interactions between equipment, people, materials, process flow, capacity, reliability, quality, and operating cost.
- Work with vendors, fabricators, contractors, and internal teams to develop and implement practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure improvements are properly commissioned, tested, documented, and transferred to Operations and Maintenance.
CAPEX & Project Engineering
- Develop technical requirements and business cases for production equipment and process improvements.
- Evaluate technical alternatives based on capacity, cost, reliability, maintainability, safety, and lifecycle considerations.
- Support vendor evaluation, equipment installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, and stabilization.
- Quantify expected and actual project benefits, including productivity gains, cost reduction, capacity improvement, and payback.
Plant & Decanting Systems
- Improve manufacturing and material-handling systems for Rua's production operations.
- Help optimize bitumen decanting and handling systems, including heating, melting, pumping, piping, transfer, drum handling, layout, energy use, throughput, and maintainability.
- Evaluate improvement opportunities at decanting sites in Iloilo and Bacolod and develop standards that can be replicated in future sites.
- Work with the Bitumen Category team on selected customer-facing technical improvement opportunities where appropriate.
Engineering Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Develop process maps, layouts, equipment specifications, standard work, control plans, commissioning reports, and other engineering documentation.
- Establish a repeatable improvement process from problem definition and baseline measurement through implementation, commissioning, benefit verification, and handoff.
- Capture lessons learned and ensure successful improvements become part of standard operating practices.
- Partner with Product & Process Innovation Engineering to support the scale-up and industrialization of new products and processes.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Around 3–7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering, continuous improvement, plant engineering, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience delivering measurable improvements in manufacturing productivity,
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including process mapping, bottleneck analysis, root-cause analysis, capacity calculations, and cycle/time studies.
- Experience working directly on a plant floor and implementing improvements with operators and technicians.
- Ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes such as cost, capacity, payback, reliability, safety, and quality.
- Willingness to travel regularly to Rua's plant, decanting sites, suppliers, fabricators, and selected project locations.
Other offers great for you!
