What they need
Manufacturing Co-ordinator
Wiltshire | Food Manufacturing
Some roles are about maintaining the status quo. Others give you the opportunity to improve how an entire manufacturing operation works.
We're working exclusively with a growing food manufacturing business that is entering an exciting period of development. As the operation continues to evolve, they're looking to bring in an Manufacturing Coordinator / SOP Co-ordinator who can help establish consistent standards, improve ways of working and ensure the right processes are in place to support both their people and future growth.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands that great manufacturing starts with great standards — and that getting those standards right takes more than simply writing a document and filing it away.
The opportunity
You'll review existing procedures, identify gaps and inconsistencies, and work alongside the people who know their processes best to develop clear, practical and effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
From production and quality through to engineering, hygiene and warehousing, you'll help ensure that best practice is captured, understood and consistently applied across the business.
Just as importantly, you'll play a key role in bringing those procedures to life. Coordinating training, monitoring competency and challenging inconsistencies on the factory floor, you'll help create an environment where people understand not just what the standards are, but why they matter.
You'll have the autonomy to organise your workload, establish priorities and shape how SOP governance, documentation and training compliance are managed. Rather than inheriting a rigid framework with little room to influence it, you'll have the opportunity to make the role your own and leave a tangible mark on the operation.
What will you be doing?
- Reviewing, developing and coordinating SOPs and work instructions to establish clear, consistent standards across the manufacturing site.
- Working with department heads, process owners and subject matter experts to capture best practice and ensure procedures accurately reflect operational requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate inconsistencies and embed more effective ways of working.
- Coordinating and delivering engaging training to ensure employees understand, follow and remain competent against approved procedures.
- Maintaining oversight of training records, competency assessments, document control and review schedules.
- Monitoring compliance through audits, factory-floor observations and performance data, highlighting risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Working alongside Continuous Improvement and operational teams to support lean principles, waste reduction and operational excellence.
- Providing management with visibility of SOP compliance, training performance and progress against improvement actions.
Who would this suit?
- We're keen to speak with individuals who have worked in an operational or regulated manufacturing environment and enjoy bringing structure, consistency and clarity to the way people work.
- Perhaps you're currently an SOP Co-ordinator, Operations Co-ordinator, Training Co-ordinator, Continuous Improvement Co-ordinator or a Manufacturing Trainer. Equally, you might work in production, quality or operational excellence and have developed a real strength in writing procedures, improving standards and helping teams work more effectively.
- You don't necessarily need to have held this exact job title before. What's important is that you understand manufacturing environments, can translate operational processes into clear and practical instructions, and have the confidence to engage people at all levels — including challenging established practices when standards aren't being followed.
- Experience in food manufacturing would be highly advantageous, particularly if you're familiar with food safety, HACCP, BRCGS and audit requirements. Experience delivering training, supporting
- Lean or 5S initiatives, or implementing standardised ways of working would also be valuable.
Why consider it?
For the right person, this is about much more than SOPs.
You'll have the opportunity to work directly with senior department heads, influence how teams operate and help build the foundations that support a growing manufacturing business. Your work will be visible, your input will matter, and you'll have the freedom to identify opportunities and develop better ways of working.
There's also scope to grow with the business. As the operation develops and your contribution expands, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your exposure to continuous improvement, operational excellence, training and wider manufacturing initiatives.
If you're looking for a position where you can combine your operational knowledge, attention to detail and passion for developing people — while having the autonomy to shape and improve the role — this could be an excellent next step.
