Manufacturing Engineer

Overview

The Plastek Group is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer for its Consumer Products Division located in Erie, PA! This is an excellent and exciting opportunity to work for a secure, progressive, and technologically advanced company.

Pay: Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications

Job Duties

• Maintain and improve high performance, complex electro-mechanical assembly and robotic systems
• Test and qualify prototype, production assembly, and robotic equipment
• Suggest methods, materials and tooling modifications to improve processes
• Create detailed, technical reports with data-driven results
• Create work instructions and training materials to support processes
• Recommend, develop and plan software initiatives
• Integrate electrical and mechanical components and systems into an overall design

Job Knowledge

• Working experience with finite element analysis (FEA)
• Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
• Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
• Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
• Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)
• Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
• Creativity and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
• Technical writing skills
• Possess computer skills for programming & data entry
• Able to read electrical/hydraulic ladder diagrams
• Software changes and programming
• PLC programmable controllers - specifically Allen Bradley controllers
• Strong Mechanical background and capability
• Diagnostic problem solving for malfunctioning equipment, perform corrective adjustments
• Basic wiring, plumbing and electricity
• Pneumatics and hydraulics
• Machine shop methods and equipment (lathes, mills, saws, grinders)
