MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Description:

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer designs, integrates and improves manufacturing systems or related processes, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist manufacturing in solving equipment problems to minimize interruptions and production downtime.
• Analyze and implement advanced manufacturing techniques, operational requirements, designs and dimension specifications.
• Evaluate and determine efficiency of equipment utilization and maximum running rates.
• Assist in preparing bid information on new and existing products.
• Update and maintain manufacturing processes as required.
• Develop processes for new production introductions into the manufacturing environment and perform assignments relative to the development and design of tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, and special machine tooling.
• Advise management on new methods, techniques, processes, equipment, tooling, etc. which would improve operations.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments as requested and participate in 6S work activities, SPC and PM Programs.
• Organize and lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities and update internal records, reports, drawings and designs through the system and document control.
• Assist in training operators on new or modified equipment processes, practices, and procedures.

Requirements:

Knowledge and Skill

• Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related area is required.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience and 3-5 years relevant leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required.
• Must have extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be a United Stated Citizen.
• Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data are required.
• Strong decision making, problem solving and organizational skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work jointly across departments is required.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
