Manufacturing Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Process Engineering

• Develop, improve and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot day-to-day production and process issues.
• Identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and ensure smooth transition to mass production.
• Develop and improve manufacturing fixtures, tooling, gauges, templates and Poka-Yoke solutions.
• Support automation and equipment improvement projects to improve production efficiency.
• Prepare and maintain manufacturing documentation, including FMEA, ECN, process flow and other related process documents.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing methods, processes and equipment.

Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing

• Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Visual Management and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Improve labor productivity through manpower balancing, line balancing and waste elimination.
• Lead Kaizen and process improvement projects to enhance efficiency, quality and cost performance.
• Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective actions to achieve operational targets.
• Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities related to materials, consumables, processes and waste reduction.
• Work closely with Production, Quality and other functions to continuously improve manufacturing performance.

Quality & Cable Assembly

• Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues related to cable assembly processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues and customer complaints.
• Apply good knowledge of cable assembly processes, fixtures, tooling and manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable requirements and standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-STD-001, where applicable.
• Support electrical testing and process controls for electrical components and cable assemblies.
• Promote effective mistake-proofing and process control methods to reduce defects and improve product quality.

Safety & Workplace Management

• Ensure compliance with company Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and safe work practices.
• Conduct daily safety briefings and promote hazard awareness.
• Maintain high standards of workplace organization through 5S and Visual Management.
• Investigate production incidents and implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Support ESD control and management within the manufacturing environment.
• Promote a safe, organized and efficient workplace.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superior.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience in cable assembly manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Familiar with cable assembly workmanship standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or J-STD-001.
• Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Visual Management and Continuous Improvement.
• Experience in line balancing, manpower productivity, waste elimination and process improvement.
• Knowledge of manufacturing fixtures, tooling, Poka-Yoke and production equipment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Able to analyze production performance and drive improvements based on manufacturing KPIs.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across different functions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering tools/software.
• Ability to communicate in Chinese will be an added advantage.
