Manufacturing Engineer

We have moved into our new 4,200 square metres premises on a greenfield site in Cootehill, Co. Cavan, designed to support our expansion and increase our production output. The facility provides exciting opportunities for growth, innovation and new career prospects.

We are seeking proactive and skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership in driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and maintenance functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring production efficiency, machine reliability and successful implementation of new processes while fostering innovation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Support

• Lead and take ownership of continuous improvement projects to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

• Support in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities and contribute to smooth new product implementation into production.

• Analyse manufacturing processes and propose innovative solutions to improve productivity, cost efficiency and safety.

• Provide technical support and ensure (ECO’s) and (NCR’s) are reviewed actioned and completed within the required timelines.

• Support the costing process by providing accurate labour and process times for new and or updated components.

• Provide technical guidance and support to production teams on machining and fabrication best practices.

Maintenance & Reliability

• Coordinate and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime.

• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, machine service history and spare parts usage.

Fabrication & Machine Shop Support

• Provide technical support for machining, fabrication and assembly challenges, identifying root causes and implementing corrective action.

• Review engineering drawings to assess manufacturability, machining requirements and production methods.

• Support the introduction of new products and processes, ensuring smooth transition from engineering to production.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through process optimization, standardisation and implementation of best manufacturing practices.

Health, Safety and Compliance

• Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

• Promote a culture of safety reliability and continuous improvement across all engineering and production areas.

The Person

• An appropriate engineering qualification essential.

• A minimum of 2 years previous experience working as a manufacturing engineer or similar in a manufacturing operation.

• A practical understanding of machining and weld fabrication.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and a CAD/CAM package.

• Experience operating in a Lean Manufacturing/Operational Excellence production environment a plus.

• Ability to demonstrate maturity of judgement, strong interpersonal and communication skills and a high degree of personal integrity.
