Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Specific Requirements: This role does need to travel to China and Taiwan up to 60% to visit supplier site

Company: A leading US manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, with operations in Malaysia supporting regional manufacturing and engineering activities. The company specializes in precision optical systems, optical instrumentation, and non-contact 3D optical metrology/profiling solutions.

Dual Focus: Hybrid role combining Manufacturing Engineering (process review, line optimization) and Supplier Quality Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support for mechanical assembly of precision optical inspection equipment.
• Improve assembly processes, work methods, fixturing, and production flow to enhance quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, assembly procedures, and process documentation.
• Support production ramp-up, engineering changes, and sustaining manufacturing activities.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues through root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Apply quality tools such as PFMEA, control plans, and risk-based process controls to improve process stability.
• Support MRB activities and disposition of manufacturing nonconformances.
• Support supplier quality issues, including containment, investigation, RCA, and corrective actions for incoming or in-process defects.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Production, Engineering, and Quality teams across Taiwan and the US to resolve technical and quality issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, or related discipline.

• 3–8 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a hybrid role in a manufacturing environment.

• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, preferably involving precision or complex equipment.

• Strong experience in root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective actions.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

• Comfortable working in a global, cross-functional environment.

• Able to use AI tools to improve productivity and work quality, while critically evaluating AI-generated outputs.
