Manufacturing Equipment Technician

About the Role

As a Manufacturing Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining operational excellence by executing precise mechanical changeovers and optimizing machine performance. You will leverage your technical expertise to troubleshoot complex equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure our production lines consistently meet high-quality throughput standards.

Responsibilities

• Execute major and minor mechanical changeovers, including mold and trim tool replacements, to ensure seamless production transitions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions, performing necessary adjustments to maintain peak equipment efficiency.
• Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance on trim presses, formers, printers, and automation systems to minimize downtime.
• Manage the storage, cleaning, and organization of tooling to ensure readiness for rapid changeover requirements.
• Utilize precision measurement tools to verify setup integrity and maintain close-tolerance fabrication standards.
• Document maintenance history and machine performance data to support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Train and mentor team members on proper setup procedures and best practices to ensure consistent operational standards.
• Identify and implement equipment upgrades or modifications to address recurring downtime issues and improve overall process flow.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Proven experience in a high-precision machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with precision measurement devices and computerized machine control interfaces.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform close-tolerance assembly and setup.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer literacy for data collection and reporting tasks.

Preferred Skills

• Technical knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical maintenance systems.
• Direct experience within the injection molding or plastics manufacturing industry.
• Certification or experience operating heavy machinery, including cranes and forklifts.
• Familiarity with thermoforming or extrusion equipment and processes.
