Manufacturing Operation Assistant Manager

About the role

This role involves assisting in planning, coordinating, executing, and monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly production activities to ensure production targets for volume, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost are consistently achieved. You will coordinate and optimize the utilization of manpower, raw materials, machinery, production facilities, and other resources to maximize operational efficiency and minimize wastage. You will monitor day-to-day plant operations and production performance, identify operational issues and bottlenecks, and take timely corrective actions to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production flow.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating, executing, and monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly production activities to ensure production targets for volume, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost are consistently achieved
• Coordinate and optimize the utilization of manpower, raw materials, machinery, production facilities, and other resources to maximize operational efficiency and minimize wastage
• Monitor day-to-day plant operations and production performance, identify operational issues and bottlenecks, and take timely corrective actions to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production flow
• Drive and support continuous improvement, productivity enhancement, cost reduction, waste reduction, and process optimization initiatives within the manufacturing operation
• Ensure effective implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, timely breakdown response, and reduction of equipment downtime
• Promote safe working practices in accordance with company requirements and applicable Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) - DOSH/JKKP regulations
• Work closely with Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Procurement, and other relevant departments to ensure effective coordination and seamless end-to-end manufacturing operations
• Prepare and analyze production performance reports covering output, productivity, efficiency, downtime, wastage, quality issues, customer complaints, and other relevant KPIs, and recommend appropriate improvement actions
• Assist in leading, coaching, and developing production personnel to improve discipline, competency, productivity, teamwork, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Support and participate in management projects, operational improvement initiatives, new product/process implementation, and other ad hoc assignments as directed by Management

About you

• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, with proven exposure to production or manufacturing operations
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science & Technology, Food Engineering, Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, or related discipline
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in Food Safety, Quality Management Systems, and regulatory requirements, including HALAL, MeSTI, GMP, and HACCP
• Good knowledge of production planning, manpower management, production efficiency, process improvement and equipment utilization
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP systems, production reporting, data analysis, and inventory/production management systems
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively lead and coordinate a production team
• Highly self-motivated, proactive, disciplined, and results-oriented, with a strong commitment to productivity, quality, safety, cost control, and continuous improvement
• Good understanding of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements and relevant DOSH/JKKP regulations
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including managing operational issues and supporting production requirements outside normal working hours when necessary
• Able to read product documentation from China is an added advantage.
