Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Operations Manager is responsible for driving measurable production, quality and safety improvements across Wheelie Rooms' manufacturing facilities in both Brisbane and Melbourne. Drive planning, supplier performance, inventory availability, BOM readiness, TACT compliance, standardised processes, quality compliance and scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Own production readiness, including materials, labour information, BOM requirements, sequencing and constraints
• Monitor actual labour against BOM allowances and investigate adverse variances
• Lead Lean, TIMWOOD, 5S and Kaizen activities with quantified benefits and visible follow-through
• Maintain and improve WHS, quality, SOP and training systems
• Provide concise, timely and data-based reporting to the General Manager
• Influence production personnel and support functions through clear standards and accountability
• Track labour hours and cost by unit, build stage and task against BOM allowances
• Identify bottlenecks, waiting time, constraints and causes of schedule variance
• Maintain accurate reorder points, shortage visibility and escalation processes
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and address recurring lateness, shortages or quality issues

About you

• Manufacturing operations, production improvement or continuous improvement experience
• Practical knowledge of Lean manufacturing, TIMWOOD, 5S and Kaizen
• Materials planning, inventory control, BOM and supplier performance capability
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and KPI reporting skills
• Sound WHS knowledge and experience developing SOPs and training materials
• Ability to influence, coordinate and control compliance and outcomes
• Desirable: Experience in modular buildings, transportable homes, construction, caravan, trailer or similar manufacturing
• Desirable: Lean, Six Sigma, supply chain or WHS qualifications
• Desirable: Experience with ERP, inventory and workflow systems, including Zoho products
• Desirable: Familiar with DMAIC processes - Define, Measure, Analyse, Implement and Control
