POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Operations Coordinator is a member of UMF Medical's Operations team and combines ownership of manufacturing system data with manufacturing engineering and product quality support. The role maintains Bills of Materials (BOMs), Bills of Operations (BOOs)/routings, revisions, resource groups, and costing information in the company's Vantage ERP system while helping develop and improve the processes used to manufacture fabricated and assembled products.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, Accounting, Customer Service, and IT, the Coordinator ensures manufacturing records reflect approved product requirements and actual production methods. The position also provides hands-on engineering support, helps resolve production and quality issues, and implements improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. These responsibilities are part of the role's ongoing scope. The position supports company priorities and Rocks established through the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) while demonstrating UMF Medical's core values of Commitment, a 5-Star Customer Experience, Teamwork, an Innovative Growth Mindset, and Checking Ego at the Door.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Own and maintain manufacturing master data in Vantage, including BOMs, BOOs/routings, part revisions, resource groups, units of measure, and related manufacturing information.

· Process approved Engineering Change Requests (ECRs); coordinate changes to drawings, BOMs, routings, and work instructions, document cost impacts, and communicate implementation requirements.

· Verify that ERP records, engineering documentation, and production methods agree; investigate discrepancies affecting production, purchasing, inventory, quality, or financial reporting.

· Perform quarterly Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) validation, investigate material and labor cost changes, reconcile discrepancies, and prepare accurate information for system and dashboard updates.

· Set up and maintain repair-part manufacturing and costing information, including BOMs, routings, packaging requirements, labor standards, and material costs.

· Provide manufacturing engineering support to improve fabrication and assembly methods, workstation layouts, tooling, and production flow; help resolve fit, assembly, and process issues.

· Use SolidWorks or other approved CAD tools to support models, drawings, tooling, fixtures, and production aids; coordinate reviews and controlled release with Engineering.

· Review process capacity, labor standards, and resource requirements; update routings and resource groups to reflect approved manufacturing methods.

· Support manufacturability reviews, prototype builds, production trials, and new-product introduction; confirm manufacturing records and instructions are ready for release.

· Partner with Quality and Production on product quality initiatives, including investigation of defects, scrap, rework, and recurring production problems; support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

· Help develop inspection points, process controls, and error-proofing methods; support process validation when required and track whether quality improvements are effective.

· Develop and maintain procedures, standard work, work instructions, and visual aids for manufacturing and recurring system processes; train employees on approved changes.

· Coordinate GTIN assignment and maintain required product information in the Global Unique Device Identification Database (GUDID) for applicable medical devices, working with Quality and other responsible functions.

· Support year-end physical inventory, including tag preparation, distribution and accountability, validation, and coordination with Operations, Accounting, IT, and outside auditors as required.

· Analyze operational data and manage assigned projects and EOS Rocks to improve inventory, production flow, productivity, cost, and quality; coordinate actions through documented completion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Preferred)

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent experience demonstrating manufacturing engineering and system-data capabilities may be considered.

· Two or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing operations, process improvement, or a comparable technical manufacturing role preferred.

· Experience maintaining BOMs, routings, engineering changes, product costing, or manufacturing master data strongly preferred.

· Hands-on experience with fabricated or assembled products, production troubleshooting, tooling, or fixture development preferred. Practical SolidWorks experience is strongly preferred.

· Experience supporting product quality initiatives, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, or inspection and process controls preferred; medical device manufacturing experience is a plus.

ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SKILLS

· Experience using a manufacturing ERP system strongly preferred. Epicor Vantage/Epicor experience is a plus; ability to understand downstream effects of data changes is essential.

· Working knowledge of BOMs, routings/BOOs, revisions, resource groups, labor standards, inventory, and product costing.

· Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret dimensions and tolerances, and apply mechanical and manufacturing principles to production problems.

· Ability to use SolidWorks or comparable CAD software for parts, assemblies, drawings, and manufacturing aids; familiarity with CAD revision control and GD&T preferred.

· Strong Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office skills for comparing and validating system data, analyzing manufacturing performance, and documenting technical work.

CORE COMPETENCIES

· Highly accurate and detail-oriented, with discipline in controlled manufacturing data, revision management, and timely completion of recurring processes.

· Practical problem solver who combines data analysis, engineering judgment, hands-on observation, and input from production employees and subject-matter experts.

· Ability to balance ERP maintenance, costing cycles, engineering support, quality initiatives, and changing production priorities.

· Strong accountability and follow-through, with the ability to coordinate actions across departments and confirm that changes are implemented correctly.

· Continuous-improvement mindset focused on simplifying work, reducing errors, improving product quality, and measuring operational results.

COMMUNICATION

· Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain manufacturing data, engineering requirements, and quality issues to production employees, technical teams, and leadership.

· Ability to gather operator feedback, train employees on revised methods, and communicate project status, decisions, implementation timing, and required follow-up.

· Ability to build effective working relationships across Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Accounting, Customer Service, IT, and outside partners.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role combines manufacturing system and computer work with regular hands-on activity on the manufacturing floor. The Coordinator works independently and closely with cross-functional teams in an entrepreneurial, growth-oriented environment. The position requires compliance with facility safety practices and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Success requires careful attention to detail, sound technical judgment, and the ability to maintain recurring system responsibilities while responding to production and product quality needs.
