Manufacturing Painter

SUMMARY

The Painter is responsible for spraying surfaces of parts, enclosures, or manufactured products with protective or decorative materials such as powder-coat pain, wet paint, or lacquer by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Cleans grease and dirt from product.

2. Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.

3. Pours paint into spray container and connects fun to air hose.

4. Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure spray.

5. Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.

6. Coats area inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush. Cleans spraying equipment and performs daily maintenance.

7. Sets oven and line speed and loads oven for maximum efficiency.

8. Visually inspects painted products to meet customer specifications.

9. Reads, interprets, and works from travelers.

10. Overtime may be required.

11. Must be able to accurately count parts and verify confirming quantity specified on the travelers.

12. Behaves courteously to coworkers and customers, follows directions of supervisors, and refrains from loud, aggressive, or profane language and behavior.

13. Regular work attendance required.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, travelers and work orders.

2. Knowledge and understanding of various paint finishes, including powder coating.

3. Must be approved for respirator use, including annual Pulmonary Function Test.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

The employee is regularly required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The job required the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Paints containing isocyanates require use of air-supplied respirator. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat.

Manufacturing shop environment, the noise level in work area is usually very loud.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
